I saw how other people would set goals to lose 10 pounds by April, or say thank you more often (that was one of my own!) and then inevitably fail within a matter of weeks. I thought, "what's so special about the new year anyway?" Well, I have an answer to that question now.
Everything in life is cyclical, and the new year is the start of a new cycle. We will go through ups and downs, physical changes, and changes in how we view ourselves and the world. It will happen. And at the start of the new year, we can use this time frame as a way to make plans to make our lives better. That's special.

Make your list too. Even if you fail, it doesn't matter. What matters is that you try. Because that means you care about your life and your health. And by caring about your own life and health, you are caring about the lives of others. Give to yourself and you give to others...it's true!
