Happy Friday Warriors,
Today is a perfect day to fight procrastination and send your productivity levels through the roof. As with any change, it will happen gradually over time, but there are some things you can do right away to see immediate results. Here’s what I did to send my productivity skyrocketing.
THE SIMPLE SHIT:
· I made to-do lists!!!!!!!!!
Duh! You’re smart, but not that smart. You need to get it down on paper. The satisfaction of checking things off a list will motivate you, if only a little. Never underestimate the power of lists!
· I created visions for tomorrow before I went to sleep.
But be careful. You don’t want to worry about what is to come and end up with a rampant mind at bedtime. Pick one thing that is most important to get done and say out loud or write down that you will do it tomorrow.
· I eliminated distractions.
When you go to work on a project, dive into it. Do not dabble or you will get nowhere. Turn off your phone, go to the library, and set yourself up for success by creating an environment with minimal opportunity for distraction.
JUST DO IT:
The famous Nike slogan has quite a bit of merit to it. Stop thinking about what you want and or need to do and JUST DO IT. Similarly, I repeated the mantra, “feel the fear, do it anyway” to get me unstuck and break free from the self-imposed shackles of procrastination
One of the main reasons we procrastinate is not because we don’t want to do it, but because we fear failing. You must learn that failure isn’t doing it wrong, rather it is not trying. When I learned to believe in myself and understand that how I think about myself is a billion times more important how other people think about me, I was able to do things way more quickly and with much less anxiety about the outcome. I accepted the fact that anything could happen; therefore all that I can ever do is my best. So, if I’ve done my best, there is nothing to regret, feel guilty about, or fear. Your best is all you can ever do. Believe that everything will be okay, no matter what happens, and you’ll set yourself free from the trappings of the unknown.
EXERCISE YOUR POWER OF CHOICE:
You choose your attitude, you choose your thoughts, and you choose your actions. When you forget that you are in control of these things, you loose control of yourself, and then allow precious time to be wasted. Take back your power and decide to be strong, confident, and productive. It truly is a matter of the mind.
