As of yesterday, in Colorado (where I live), it is now legal to buy marijuana. People are rushing to purchase their bags of weed and smoke it up. They are celebrating the legality of getting high.
I actually get high quite frequently, contrary to what those of you who know me personally might think. However, I've never smoked anything in my life. I've never been drunk, stoned, blazed, intoxicated, ripped, wasted, baked, bombed...you get the idea. But, I have been high. Honest to God. Here are some of the ways that I have done it:
"But, Ethan, if you've never really been high, like on weed, then how do you know you've been high 'on life' as you say?" Good question, you advocate of the devil! I know I've been high because my consciousness has been literally been altered in these states of mental and physical engagement. I've felt on Cloud 9, out of my body, like I'm dreaming, alive in another world, with my emotions and senses amplified, like everything is totally awesome and I forget about it all except what happening right then and there. Who hasn't laughed so hard they cry with a group of friends or at something ridiculously funny? You know that feeling that builds up inside your chest. You get light-headed and tipsy. You feel high. That's because you are. You are high on laughter. Music is another great method. I love to sit and absorb ambient sounds and be transported to distant galaxy. Or, I can get swept up in the twangs of the sitar in a song like the Beatles, "Tomorrow Never Knows"..."turn off your mind, relax, and float downstreammmm........." Ever heard of the phenomenon, "runner's high"? Well, it's not called that by mistake! It is quite real and as just about any other serious runner can attest, it is quite pleasurable. I'll have been running hard for a good thirty minutes and then BOOM it hits, sparks fly. I can take off sprinting with the thunder of a herd of elephants while feeling like Superman soaring through the stratosphere. Chills flutter up and down my spine and my body appears to disappear. The pounding of my feet sync up with the beat of my heart and then my imagination produces images of the impossible becoming possible right before my very eyes... And you thought I'd never gotten high. Ha! Anyway, I recommend these forms of getting high, because there are no negative side-effects. Moreover, they actually are proven (with a million times more evidence and certainty than Mary Jane) to boost your health. Happy Getting High on LIFE! ~Ethan |
