Everyone worries. Everyone doubts. That is a fact. What differs among people is how they deal with and manage these emotions.
Note: One of the most important skills in self-improvement is emotion management.
You have the ability to choose what you do with your worries and doubts. I recently have used a mental framework or a way of thinking about worries and doubts that has been highly beneficial for me, and I know it will be for you too.
Before I share this framework with you, there's something absolutely critical to understand first. That is the concept of self-awareness. Self-awareness is the ability to reflect upon your thoughts, feelings, emotional state, whereupon you engage in metacognition. Metacognition is really just a fancy way of saying "to think about what you are thinking about." It means you take a step back from the thoughts inside your mind and look at them objectively (as much as that is possible). It is in this place of observation, of looking down from above at your worries and doubts that the magic of personal transformation takes place.
Note: Self-awareness is THE NUMBER ONE most important skill in self-improvement.
So here's what I do. I notice that I am experiencing doubts and worries. I then pose a task for myself: how can I take this very real negative energy that I am experiencing and transform it into positive energy? I also frame the question as: how can I make this negative energy useful? Immediately, ideas will come to mind, and immediately, I get to work.
