So recently I've been trying to make a little extra effort to be nicer to the people around me. For those who know me, maybe you've noticed this, maybe you haven't. But I have been trying, and I have been seeing some interesting results. This has been going on for just a few weeks now, but since I started making these small efforts, like asking a cashier how their day is going, or just randomly texting an old friend to say I hope that they're doing well, I've experienced the following:
If you're feeling down, do something to make someone else feel important or noticed. This does NOT mean you have to buy them a present or tell them they're a great person. All it takes is looking someone in the eye and giving a genuine smile, because you know that person is a unique individual with all of their own hardships, and a smile is something you can do that might make their day better.
