Giving up is marked by a change in attitude colored by indecision and negativity. When we give up, we say “it’s not possible” and “I can’t do it”.
On the other hand, letting go signals an emotional release. When we let go, we believe that there are no limits and an infinite number of ways of viewing situations. Letting go means surrendering to the flow of life. It means having faith that it will work out; that you will be okay.
In creating new habits and becoming my greatest version, I’m learning that some days, I have to let go of the goals I’ve set for the day. Plans are meant to give direction...they aren’t supposed to dictate what absolutely must be! To force any plan or intention is against nature and the rhythm of life. So, I must continually release my emotional need to accomplish everything I set out to do.
Along my journey, I’ve discovered that knowing when to keep going versus when to let go begins and ends with self-awareness.
Socrates said, "know thyself"...perhaps the wisest words ever uttered!
