- I am an intelligent yet deeply primitive creature. In public discourse, there's a lot of talk about how we are the most intelligent form of life. And I can easily see how this applies in daily life with the incredible technologies - from iPhones to cars - that permeate our experience. However, it's crystal clear that we are controlled by our basic urges and needs. Very often we are experiencing life through our "fight/flight" brain, which is the most reactive and self-serving aspect of our being.
- I drastically underestimate my power. Each of us is a miracle of the Universe. We all possess and embody the force of creation. It can be seen everything we do. Imagining what to eat for dinner and then making it is itself an act of creation. From creating our own little humans to making iPhones, we have harnessed this power to do amazing and awesome things. But as our own worst enemies, we easily and often backfire. We create every minute of every day, but with little awareness about it. We give our power away to society and our primitive brains.
- Time keeps flowing on. No matter what I do, or say, or think, time keeps going. Quite frankly, time doesn't give a damn what I do, say, or think. At a certain point, rafting down the river, you just have to let up and stop trying to control the will of the river.
