Happiness is an early Sunday morning stroll.
Happiness is visiting the little local coffee shop.
Happiness is sunlight streaming through the tree branches.
Happiness is giving without expecting something in return.
Happiness is taking my time.
Happiness is knowing I am loved.
Happiness is music that resonates with my soul.
From time to time, we will become caught in the trappings and demands of the “outside” world. During these times, we forget what is important to us. We even forget who we are.
We can break free from these negative loops by slowing down and experiencing fully the tiny gestures and small subtleties that make our lives beautiful. What truly makes you happy? What ever your answer – go out and experience it and you’ll remember what is important; you’ll remember who you are.
For the past five consecutive Saturdays, I have refrained from laying either of my eyes on any screens. Say what?! Yep, this includes: iPhone, computer, and television. I carefully observed my experience during this time and have come to truly eye-opening conclusions. Eliminating screens appears to have the following benefits…
The phone is the most tempting and easy device to escape from reality on. So, on Friday night, I set up an away message, put it on “Do Not Disturb” which silences all tones, and then tuck the device away – out of sight; out of mind.
I strongly encourage that everyone try a No-Screen day. Even just one day to observe how it makes you feel.
