2015 Goals Journal - #7
The Earth is amazing. It's full of billions of humans who are paradoxically just like you, yet completely different. There's an unlimited number of perspectives; things to know and learn. Each subject is its own world with a bottomless pit of things to learn and discover.
How we navigate the world's jungle of information is entirely a choice. Make no mistake: we are heavily influenced to move in particular directions. However, I propose that there is an optimal decision for a life best lived. Rather than drifting aimlessly, or taking the trail that others have created, the most positive method is to confidently cut a path through the jungle, engaging fully in the awesome journey by day, and dreaming vividly of the perfect destination by night.
Goals are a method of clearing a distinct path through the thick jungle of opinions, voices, and unlimited possible routes. Goals propagate clarity and cultivate confidence. Goals are the keys to all the unlocked doors of potential - you and you alone can make the choice the insert the key and walk through a door. No one knows what's on the other side, so combine what you do know with the faith that everything will be alright.
What are you waiting for? The world is an abundant, infinite playground of experiences. Now that you're at the end of this blog post, close you laptop, turn off your phone and go DO something you've been wanting to do - NO IF's OR BUTs ABOUT IT!
Jump into life now, while you still have the opportunity, while you are still graced with a beating heart and the ability to make the choice.
As you know, there are three primary achievements I am after this year:
In this post, I'll be focusing the most essential action step that's enabling to actually manifest new habits.
It's supremely simple. A large calendar sits on my room desk, and every single night, I place a checkmark in the appropriate row for FOUR behaviors I am engraving into my life.
The reason this is motivating me is it feels like a game. Each checkmark is like a point, and I am aiming for a high score. Moreover, placing checkmarks is extremely satisfying because I can visually see the progress.
I've done this every day since January 18, and I intend to continue doing so throughout 2015 and beyond. Once I have a checkmark next to ~90% of my days (gotta leave some wiggle-room for the truly unexpected) for these particular habits, I can move on to new habits that go beyond maintaing health and into manifesting dreams.
Thanks for reading.
